About Our Practice in Surrey

Known to her patients as Dr. G, Dr. Sipra Gohel is a New York University-trained dentist who brings her many years of experience to our practice.

Dr. G’s career started while being raised in Houston, Texas, where she first explored the field of dentistry as a dental assistant. Hard work and her broad experience led to an acceptance at the New York University College of Dentistry, one of North America’s most fast-paced and prestigious dental colleges.

Upon completing her degree, Dr. G pursued her residency in general dentistry at Brooklyn Hospital. She subsequently spent the next 5 years in New York working in the boroughs of the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. She credits these busy settings and tremendously diverse spectrum of patients and their related dental care with providing her with the experience to become the dentist she is today.

Dr. G believes that the core of her practice is patience, integrity, and continuing to expand her knowledge in the field of dentistry. With participation in numerous continuing education courses and study clubs, Dr. G has shifted the focus of the practice to preventive dentistry versus reactive dentistry. She wants to help you preserve and protect your own natural teeth by assessing them on a deeper level than ever before. It is with this evolving philosophy that Dr. G provides patient care.

A romantic at heart, Dr. G met her husband in 2012 and made the move from NYC to BC in 2013. They welcomed their daughter Raahi Siya in June 2017 and welcomed their twins, Raina and Rohan in November 2019. In her spare time, Dr. G enjoys reading, travelling, biking, and exploring the different parts of BC with friends and family.

Dr. Ivana Gojic graduated from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine D.M.D.) degree in 2006. She moved to Vancouver in 2010 and became a registered dentist in BC after completing the Canadian equivalency process conducted by the National Dental Examining Board of Canada. Dr. Gojic is a member of the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, the BC Dental Association, and the Canadian Dental Association.

Dr. Gojic is passionate about dentistry, focused on providing gentle dental care to restore function and beautiful smiles. She has dedicated herself to excellence in dentistry and always places patient care at the centre of her focus. Dr. Gojic participated in continuing education courses to keep up to date with the newest treatments, materials, and technological advances.

Her number one desire is to be able to offer and provide the most advanced dental care available to each and every patient. A happy patient is her greatest reward. Dr. Gojic looks forward to meeting you and caring for your dental needs.
Away from the office, Ivana spends her time with family and friends. Married with 2 boys, she spends much of her leisure time in family activities. She enjoys an active life, like skiing, hiking, and tennis, making Vancouver a perfect home for her and her family.

Meet Carolyn, a highly skilled Registered Dental Hygienist at Genesis Dental, with over 24 years of experience in the dental industry. Starting her career as a dental assistant for 3 years in Ontario, Carolyn’s desire to educate and provide quality dentistry led her to pursue her Dental Hygiene diploma and move to BC. She has been serving patients at Genesis Dental since 1997, sharing Dr. G’s enthusiastic demand for high-quality care.

Carolyn takes a gentle, compassionate, and preventive approach to dentistry, building a friendly rapport with her clients while ensuring their comfort throughout their appointment. Her greatest satisfaction comes from educating her patients and helping them maintain their oral health. With her unique gentle touch and relatable personality, Carolyn puts her patients at ease from their very first appointment.

At Genesis Dental, Carolyn enjoys working with a great team that feels like one big, happy family, allowing her to serve patients with a heartwarming and patient-focused approach. Outside of work, Carolyn is a dedicated, busy mom to her son Brogan, loves spending time with her family, and proudly cheers on her kid during his hockey games.. She also enjoys leisurely strolls with her sweet black lab, Easton, and likes to play baseball.

Mishgan Hakimi is one of our dedicated and experienced Registered Dental Hygienists currently working at Genesis Dental.
Mishgan has been in her current position at Genesis Dental for six years, but her passion for the dental industry extends over 17 years, supported by her 2 Bachelor’s of Science degrees, one focusing on business and psychology, the other specializing in dental hygiene. Her primary focus is helping patients take an interest in their oral health and empowering them to take better care of themselves. She believes that by fostering a genuine connection with each patient, she can make a lasting impression on their overall well-being.

What truly drives Mishgan in her profession is the opportunity to meet new people daily and establish meaningful connections through her work. Her empathetic nature and excellent communication skills allow her to create a comfortable environment for her patients, helping them receive the care they need.

Outside of her professional life, Mishgan enjoys traveling and exploring new places, cherishing quality time with family and friends, and indulging in some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Her zest for life and commitment to her patients makes her an invaluable member of the Genesis Dental team.

Parm Kaila is our Senior Certified Dental Assistant at Genesis Dental. With an impressive career in the dental industry spanning over 25 years, Parm has held her current position for the past 8 years, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the field.

Parm’s educational background includes a Business Administration degree from Sheridan College in 1992, followed by graduating with honors as a Certified Dental Assistant from Bellingham Technical College in 1998.

In her approach to dentistry, Parm treats patients with kindness and respect, while expressing gratitude for choosing her team at Genesis Dental. She finds her job fascinating due to the diverse array of people she encounters and the fact that no 2 days are ever the same. Parm believes she works with some of the kindest and easy-going patients, which adds to her enthusiasm for her work.

Outside of Genesis Dental, Parm recently welcomed a new furbaby named Nico into her family and enjoys listening to history and geopolitical audiobooks in her spare time.

Tracey Scarff is a Certified Level II Dental Assistant here at Genesis Dental. 

Tracey’s educational background includes graduating from MTI Community College in 2007 as a Certified Dental Assistant. As a people person, she enjoys building connections with her patients and creating a comfortable environment for them.

What makes Tracey’s job interesting is her love for meeting new people and engaging in conversations with patients. Her warm personality and ability to connect with others make her an integral part of the Genesis Dental team.

Outside of work, Tracey is a proud mom of five and loves spending time with her friends, family, and cherished grandchildren. She also enjoys going for walks and indulging in shopping trips.

Virginia Marissen has been our Manager of Codependence & Coworkers at Genesis Dental for almost 8 years.

Her educational background includes a certification from CDI College for Office Administration, as well as a certification as a Commercial Florist. In her approach to her role, Virginia aims to provide financial answers for patients, enabling them to make the best decisions in support of their oral health.

What Virginia finds most interesting about her job is the opportunity to put together and work through comprehensive treatment plans with patients. She takes great satisfaction in seeing them love the final results and knowing that she played a part in their journey to better oral health.

In her free time she enjoys attending local baseball and football games, supporting the make a wish foundation by participating in the local foam fest, performing on stage, crocheting stuffies for the farmers market, extending her knowledge about gardening, watching her nieces and nephews in their local hockey, football, dance and theater interests and camping with her extended family of 17 in out of the way places.

Jane Uglanica is the dedicated and accomplished Office Manager at Genesis Dental, with an impressive 27-year-long career in the dental industry. Born and raised in a small town in BC, Jane spent 10 years working as a lifeguard and swim instructor after high school, where she honed her skills in caring for and looking after people.

In 1996, Jane returned to school and graduated with honours from Douglas College as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). While there, she earned the EcoLab Award for Academic Excellence, the CDABC Award of Excellence, and the prestigious “Student Award of Excellence For Professionalism, Ethics And Spirit Of Co-Operation” from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.

Jane diligently worked as a CDA and receptionist for 5 years before being promoted to Dental Office Manager. In her role, she enjoys learning new things, meeting new people, and staying updated with industry trends and cutting-edge technology. Her passion for continuous improvement makes her an invaluable asset to the Genesis Dental team.

After over 20 years in the dental industry, Jane attempted to retire in 2017 but was drawn back to dentistry in 2018 due to the exceptional atmosphere at Genesis Dental. Happily married to her husband Allan, Jane is a proud mother of 3 children and grandmother to 7 grandchildren.

When not dedicating her time and energy to the patients of Genesis Dental, Jane loves traveling, swimming, reading, and spending quality time with her family. As a connoisseur of chocolate and fine wine, she enjoys indulging in life’s finer pleasures.

Dianne Whiteley is our vibrant and dedicated Dental Office Assistant here at Genesis Dental. With just over a year of experience in her current position, Dianne has quickly adapted to her role and become an integral part of the team.

Dianne’s educational background includes graduating in 2020 from Fraser Valley Continuing Education with a Medical Office Assistant Certificate. Additionally, she holds a diploma in Environmental Protection from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
In her approach to work, Dianne is known for her cute, cheeky demeanor and for always having fun. Her colleagues and patients can always count on her to bring a smile and a touch of humor to brighten their day.

Outside of her professional life, Dianne enjoys cooking, camping, kayaking, savoring delicious BC wines, reading, and spending time with her friends. Her lively personality, commitment to patient care, and ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere make Dianne Whiteley a valuable member of the Genesis Dental team.
